What this editor actually changes
Click a detected span
pdf.js reads selectable text on the page. Hover highlights a span; click opens an inline editor on that run of characters.
Rewrite, size, bold, italic
Change the string, pick a size (or type a custom size), and toggle bold/italic. Output fonts map to Helvetica variants.
Move, rotate 90°, or remove
Drag a span to a new spot, rotate in 90° steps, or delete it. The original glyphs are covered with a white rectangle, then your new text is drawn.
Undo / redo while you work
Edits are stacked in local history (Ctrl/Cmd+Z) so you can step back if a cover box looks wrong before you download.

Select a span, rewrite it, tweak size or style, move/rotate/remove as needed, then save the inline edit.
Download the edited PDF
pdf-lib writes the covers and new text locally. Save pdflaunch-edited-….pdf and spot-check the pages you touched.
Edits people make most often
Scanned pages with no text layer will not offer clickable spans — run OCR PDF first. For irreversible removal of sensitive data use Redact PDF, not a white cover box.

How do I change text in a PDF here?
Upload the file, click a highlighted text span on the preview, rewrite it in the inline editor, save, then download.
Can I edit scanned PDFs with no text?
Not until they have a text layer. Run OCR first, then return here so spans can be detected.
Does Edit PDF keep the original font exactly?
No. Replaced text is redrawn with Helvetica (regular, bold, oblique, or bold-oblique). Layout nearby can shift slightly.
What happens to the old characters I replaced?
They are covered with a white rectangle, then the new string is drawn on top. On colored backgrounds the cover box can show — check the preview.
Is this a full Adobe-style PDF layout editor?
No. It targets existing selectable text spans — rewrite, restyle, move, rotate, remove — not freeform shapes, highlights, or complex reflow.
Is white-cover delete the same as redaction?
No. A white box is a visual cover, not secure redaction. Use Redact PDF when content must be unrecoverable.
How large can the PDF be for editing?
Up to 25 MB. Heavier files take longer because each page’s text is detected in the browser.
Are my files uploaded when I edit a PDF?
No. Detection and rewriting run in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib.
Can I undo a mistaken edit?
Yes. Use Ctrl/Cmd+Z (and redo with Shift) while the file is still open in the tool, before you leave the page.
Do I need a pdfLaunch account to edit a PDF?
